This year’s second edition of our open-water swim retreat in Costa Rica welcomes swimmers for an active holiday of ocean swims, race prep, and fun local activities — a relaxed, social way to meet local swimmers and connect with like-minded people.
Join guided workouts that are fun and effective: practice sighting, drafting, pacing, race starts, and race-day strategy in safe, supervised ocean conditions. Swim at multiple beaches and dynamic ocean locations, then test your skills on June 6 at one of Costa Rica’s most beautiful beaches, Playa Conchal, with 1.5 km, 3 km, and 5 km race options.
In collaboration with Vamos Youth and our local swim team Vamos Ocean Racers, founded in 2016 to expand swim and lifesaving instruction and reduce drowning in our community, every session is led by certified ocean lifeguards and experienced coaches. Small-group coaching, hands-on drills, and friendly, personalized feedback help you improve technique and build open-water confidence while having a great time.
Includes roundtrip airport shuttles and transportation during the retreat. Participants are responsible for purchasing their own plane tickets.
A 7-day stay at the luxurious, modern Tamarindo Bay Boutique Hotel—including daily breakfast—steps from the beach, amazing restaurants, lively bars, and all of Tamarindo’s top attractions.
Designed to elevate your ocean confidence, the retreat includes a surf lesson, yoga for swimmers, a pool technique analysis, a scenic sailing cruise, and daily open-water sessions. You’ll train with local athletes, explore various beaches, and can even join one of the most iconic swim races in the country at Playa Conchal.
The retreat includes expert coaching and professional lifeguard supervision during all training sessions to ensure safety and optimal guidance.
Every participant will receive a high-resolution photo album featuring drone, water, and action shots.
Each swimmer receives a premium kit: a custom open-water swim buoy, long-sleeve hooded SPF rash guard, silicone swim cap, and a dedicated swim bag—everything you need for safe, stylish training.

By joining this retreat, you directly support water safety in our community. In Costa Rica, drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death, making aquatic education an urgent priority. For every swimmer who
registers, a local child will receive a full sponsorship to participate in the next Vamos Youth Swim Academy.
This contribution provides essential swim instruction and lifesaving skills to children who may otherwise have limited access to aquatic education. For years, Vamos Youth has sponsored hundreds of local children through its programs, helping reduce drowning risks and fostering ocean awareness throughout Guanacaste.
Your participation not only elevates your own open-water experience, it actively strengthens our mission to empower youth with the confidence and knowledge to stay safe in the ocean.
Together, we create safer waters for everyone!
Founded in 2016, Vamos Youth is dedicated to elevating ocean safety and swim training for children and adults across Guanacaste.
